The “musically elegant” Liora Michelle is a most surprising discovery on the international opera stage. Having begun a steady career in Australia as a principal soprano for the Melbourne City Opera, Liora Michelle now resides in New York and her current performance repertory includes over 25 heroines in opera’s most celebrated works. With a vocal color that suits bel canto as well as the more lyric verismo roles, she is a rare, versatile singer with a remarkable breadth of repertory.

Most notable are the roles of Leonora in Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Nedda in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci, Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello, Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, and the title role in Bellini’s Norma. After her performance of Micaëla in Carmen for Spray Farm Summer Festival, The Herald Sun called hers “a new face to watch.”
